Color Throwdown - Kindess Matters

Happy Wednesday or Hump Day, whichever you prefer! I'm here with my final post as the April Guest Designer with the Color Throwdown Challenge. It's been an inspiring month full of yummy color combos and I'm sad to see it end.

Today's colors had me convinced that I needed to create something nautical (my favorite theme), but I compromised a bit in order to get out of my box. I painted nautical stripes on my background layer and then layered it up with thread, enamel accents, sequins and a bold and beautiful butterfly.

That beautiful butterfly is Reverse Confetti's Butterfly Dreams and coordinating Butterfly Dreams Confetti Cuts. To make the striped background, I simply took a Zig watercolor marker, swiped it across watercolor paper, brushed water over the top of each and then spattered more water with a smaller brush and let dry.

I sure hope you'll make a little time to come on out and play along with this happy color combo! If you need a little more nudging and inspiration, head on over to the Color Throwdown Blog!

SPD SugarSketch 50

Hi all! It's Monday and time for a SugarPea Designs team post. I've teamed up today's card with the current SugarSketch 50. You'll find all of the sketch details HERE at the SPD blog, and while you're there, take a look-see at the rest of the Monday Team creations.

I can't get enough of the SugarCuts - Whatever The Weather dies - there's so much to love! I took advantage of the 4 squares in the sketch and squeezed in as many of those dies as I could in my white/aqua/yellow color combo. I double layered 'hugs' (SugarCuts - Chatterbox Journal Card) and gave it a coat of Glossy Accents to set it apart from the background square.

Thanks for stopping in today. Have a great Monday!

Color Throwdown 389 - Beach, Please!

How fun is this week's Color Throwdown #389 color combo?! It is screaming for some summer-lovin',  so I pulled out my Reverse Confetti Pineapples Aplenty and got to work.

Using my MISTI for solid, even coverage,  I stamped the beach, please (cracks me up every time) pineapple in hot pink and medium green stem. One thing I've learned using the MISTI is to not press down too hard on the cover but rather press lightly, repeating 2-3 times. That way the image stays crisp and clean.

My RC teammie, Amy Tsuruta, was rockin' the washi tape last week, so I pulled out a roll of orange damask washi I've had for ages and ran a line of it from top to bottom. Lastly, I added enamel dots in the challenge colors. Clean and simple!

Can't wait to see what the rest of the CTD team has done with the colors, so let's take a look!

SugarPea Designs - Hello Beautiful

Happy Monday! I'm glad you stopped by today because I have a card for you today featuring a few of the new products just released last week at SugarPea Designs. Check in at the SugarPea Designs blog for even more inspiration to kick off your week.

I started with a fun piece of patterned paper as my jumping board and then layered it with my favorite SugarCuts - Chatterbox Journal Card die on which I stamped sentiments from Talk is Chic (this month's FREE with $60 set).

I can't stop reaching for the sun die from SugarCuts - Whatever The Weather and chose a glittery gold version for my ensemble. A bit of washi and gold sequins and this one is set to sail.

Thanks for stopping by today. Have a great day!

SugarPea Designs - Chatterbox Journal Card

Happy  Fri-Yay! There is a lot to be happy about today: it's Friday, it's Friday and it's release day at SugarPea Designs. Do you have your shopping list ready? You have until 6pm EST tonight to get your ducks in a row - good luck and happy shopping!

As I've mentioned before, I have a serious crush on the Chatterbox Journal Card die and have used it on most (all) of my Sweet Peek cards this week. It's just that perfect size and has such cute stitching detail around the perimeter, just right!

Did I mention that the Chatterbox Journal Card comes with 5 word dies as well? I used 'hello' for today's card, as in "hello, sunshine", get it?! Any excuse to use that adorable sun die from SugarCuts Whatever The Weather, I tell ya.

Sweet Peek - Quackers

It's Thursday, which means the weekend is right around the corner and so is the SugarPea Designs new release. All new products will be in the store tomorrow (Friday, April 15th) at 6pm EST! How's your list coming? Well, today's set isn't going to make decisions any easier, folks. Quackers is one of those sets that will make you ooh and ah and giggle all at once.

I paired Quackers with my new most favorite die, Chatterbox Journal Card (of course) to create a little window view of the pond where my cute lil' ducky is swimming away the day.

I really wanted ducky to pop out against the aqua background, so I stamped the images in Versamark and clear embossed them for a tone on tone look. I couldn't resist adding a little sun-n-cloud action with the Whatever The Weather SugarCuts - they make the best embellishments and focal points!

Remember to leave a little love in the comment box and again at the SugarPea Designs blog for your chance to win Quackers! Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you back tomorrow with more Sweet Peeks from SugarPea Designs

Pineapple Paradise + Color Throwdown 388

It's day 3 of SugarPea Designs Sweet Peek Week, and I've got a little piece of Pineapple Paradise to share with you today. Actually, two pieces, so let's take a look at today's featured set - Pineapple Paradise!

My first card today features not only Pineapple Paradise (and coordinating SugarCuts), it also incorporates the Chatterbox Journal Card (speech bubble) that I can't stop using and Color Throwdown #388

Card number two is the beachy cousin of card number one. Instead of stamping the pineapple base, I simply watercolored it with yellow dye ink and embellished it with sequins that will also be available in the SugarPea Designs store on Fri-yay!

I hope you're enjoying all of the sneak peeks this week and have plans to come on back tomorrow! Remember to leave a comment here and on the SugarPea Designs blog to increase your chances at winning Pineapple Paradise. Have a great day!

SugarPea Designs - Funky Wreath Spring Addition

It's day 2 of Sweet Sneak Peeks with SugarPea Designs and I've got a card for you today featuring the umbrella from Weather It Together SugarCuts and stamps from Funky Wreaths - Spring Addition. The new release will be available for purchase Friday, April 15 with sneak peeks going on all week long. If you'd like to win today's featured set, Funky Wreaths - Spring Addition,  simply leave a comment here and at the SugarPea Designs blog - easy peasy!

I first die cut the umbrella and then lightly sketched the scalloped perimeter on the white card base to use as a guide for my stamped leaves. I'd planned to add a few of the daisy-type flowers from Spring Addition but decided I really liked the simplicity of the stamped foliage as well as the green, aqua and black color combo.

The hello die cut is from Chatterbox Journal Card SugarCuts (a must have die collection) that I've paired with friend from Funky Wreath - Spring Addition. I finished the left side with a strip of washi tape and then added a mix of black enamel dots.

Thank you for stopping by today! Please come back for tomorrow's Sweet Sneak Peek featuring a little something tropical. Ü
